In the future, highly-individualized patient therapies may be developed during which tumor biopsies would be taken from a patient before treatment. Biopsies would then be screened against a panel of oncolytic vaccinia viruses. The virus that demonstrates best replication efficiency and anti-tumor activity would then be selected to treat the patient.
