Company Overview

“Transforming cancer from a terminal disease to a manageable condition.”

Genelux Corporation is a privately-held biomedical company whose mission is to develop safe and effective diagnostic and therapeutic solutions for cancer and inflammatory diseases for which there is no effective treatment today. Genelux Corporation was founded in 2001 by Dr. Aladar A. Szalay, an internationally-recognized pioneer in monitoring gene regulation in live cells and organisms using low light imaging. The company’s name — derived from the Latin for “life” and “light” — reflects these scientific roots.

For the past several years, Genelux scientists have employed their experience with genetic engineering and bioluminescence to develop a variety of novel therapeutic and diagnostic products using viruses, bacteria and mammalian cells. The company’s flagship product platform, GL-ONC1, is a genetically-engineered virus attenuated for safety and stability. GL-ONC1 enables not only the highly selective illumination/visualization of established tumors and metastases for accurate localization and detection (diagnosis), but has also facilitated dramatic regression and elimination of solid tumors in live animals without harming healthy tissues or organs (therapy).

The lead Genelux product candidate, GL-ONC1, is currently being studied in early phase clinical trials in human cancer patients in the United Kingdom. Additional clinical trials are in regulatory preparation and/or submission stages. At the same time, the company continues research and development to broaden the applications of its platform therapeutic and/or imaging product lines.

Genelux has a corporate headquarters and Research and Development Division in San Diego, California; an Office of Business and Investor Relations in Redlands, California; and a Product Analysis Division in Bernried, Germany.
